In a 25 year career John has become a fixture on the mainstream Jazz and Rhythm and Blues scenes. Playing and recording with the likes of Humphrey Lyttelton, Jamie Cullum and Clare Teal amongst others and spent 11 years with Blue Harlem alongside Imelda May. He was a member of Acker Bilk's Paramount Jazzband from 2005 until Acker's retirement in 2013. 

John Day joined the Big Chris Barber Band on Nov. 26, 2017. He already did a few concerts with the Barber Band in September 2017.
