Music From The Land Of Dreams
This is an unusual but really excellent record. I bought it on a trip to England when it was first released and didn't like it much, so it stayed un-played for years. Rediscovering it a few years ago, I realized what a hidden gem it is. With the overdubbing and some electronics, the LP reminds me a little of the infamous Drat That Fratle Rat sessions of the early 1970s, but I think it is far more successful both as a set of individual tracks and as an overall concept. The title track in particular is outstanding, and the band is in great form. These were among the last sessions recorded with Roger Hill on electric guitar at the end of his seven-year tenure in the band. The cover scanned here has three autographs: Chris Barber, Vic Pitt, and -- I think -- John Crocker.
